I wasn't there when they crucified Jesus. I don't know what I would have done if I had been there. I know that He suffered so much when the Romans crucified Him. Can you even begin to imagine how much Jesus loves us?I've been watching that mini series. the Bible AD. And to actually watch when the Romans crucified Jesus, and when they drove them spikes through his hands and through his feet. When they put the crown of thorns on his head and pushed it down until the thorns just dug into his forehead and all around his head.When they pierced His side with a spear and water and blood came out separated. Oh my God and my Lord. And for all that He left heaven. To think that he left a place of total bliss. Just think Jesus left a place of pure joy and happiness. Jesus left a place where there's no tears or sickness or sorrow.To think Jesus left all that behind to come here and to die a horrible death on the cross. To think that Jesus left all.that just to give us a chance for eternal life in paradise.I know that Willie Nelson writes most of his songs if not all of his songs. And I can tell that Willie Nelson loves Jesus with all of his heart. I mean just listen to the words of this song.This song really breaks my heart and touches me deeply and makes me cry when I listen to it. I wasn't there when they crucified the Lord of all Glory. But when I think about him and the way them old nasty Romans did him on the cross it breaks my heart.. One time I was up early in the morning I was thinking about Jesus and I actually saw him hanging on the cross in a vision of my mind. I saw the crown of thorns the blood flowing from his head I saw his hands and feet attached to the cross with spikes not nails. I also saw the blood running out of the holes they had Him spiked up with. I couldn't stop crying I cried and cried it was like I lost a loved one .My heart broke so bad when I saw what I saw in my mind. And to think so many people hate Jesus Christ the Son of Yahweh. Nevertheless there were haters there the day they crucified Him. They pulled on his beard and they smote him.Then they spit in his face they wagged their heads as they walked by and glanced up at Him. But yet He's love for them was so awesome and powerful that he called out to our Heavenly Father Yahweh and said Father forgive them for they know not what they do. My friends there is no greater love than that. No not on this earth and never has been since the day that Jesus hung on the cross. Won't you ask Jesus into your heart right now ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and save your soul and fill you with the Holy Spirit before it's too late Before the doors to salvation are closed forever. call upon Jesus right now don't hesitate. Time is running short there's no time left. Jesus is coming in the not too distant future and we must be ready. Ask Jesus to save you right now to fill you with His Holy Spirit. +Amy Genova The truth is, no one really knows how much it actually hurt. Jesus' own Disciple betrayed him for money. They whipped Jesus, put a crown of thorns on His head, mocked Him, made Him carry the heavy cross on the hot road, stripped Him of His clothes, nailed Him to the cross, and gave Him vinegar when He was thirsty. I doubt anyone from our generation could take that pain. And it wasn't only the physical pain. Jesus was carrying the weight of all of our sins on His back as well. He made this trip just to save us from sin; Went through all that pain because he loves us dearly, despite our mistakes. When Jesus made this journey on the cross, He opened the gates of Heaven back up to those who believe and let Him into their hearts. I'm not trying to force religion on you. I respect the fact that you don't believe. I'm just trying to show you that it was much more than a crucifixion.

It was a good version, but I prefer the mournful wail on the word, "Oh", as I have heard it in different versions, like Marion Williams. I am a non-believer, but I understand this as a sympathetic realization of the pain of crucifixion. And, I don't understand it. Why all of this grief? Three days on a cross seems a small price to pay when one is guaranteed eternal life.

There are many renditions of this gripping masterpiece but Willie's piece really touched me right in the heart. God bless him and all the beautiful Christian hymn he sung to us over the years! The lyrics tell the story of Lent, especially Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Too bad we don't sing more of the true spiritual hymns we once sang! Beautiful job Willie!
