Willie had some very nice ballads in the 60's.

I have owned this album for ever, I have lost pet, cars and husbands, but at 61 I still have my Willie album, it’s so loved. I was raised close to Ft. Worth, where he would play at panther hall every Saturday nite, I would be listening on an old radio that shocked me every time I would plug it up. It was a price I was willing to pay, raises in far ne Texas on a large farm, by grandparents and on Sat. That was my entertainment. I think that was some of those good old days.

This is one of the greatest albums of all time. Not a single bad track.

His original version of this song is the best of them all. There are many other great versions to include George Jones, Wanda Jackson, Elvis Presley and more.

I always loved this song by Joe Hinton (1964), but I never knew until today that it was written by Willie Nelson. Beautiful lyrics. And Willie is still at it, more than 50 years later.

They don't write 'em like they used to.  AND, they sure don't sing 'em like they used to.  Thank heaven for YouTube.  Keeps the great music alive and well.

I love the sad songs. What modern music mostly lacks today is the polish of the old stuff.
