The first time I heard this song, I was painting the archway in my dining room. My daughter and her best friend were hanging around talking. They had this album on and when this song came on it instantly struck a chord in me and I started listening to the words. When the part about "Mom wants you to come back home. She keeps crying when I call her on the phone...." came on, tears sprang from eyes and I just started sobbing. I couldn't stop. My ex had used my son as a weapon against me for divorcing him and they forced me to let him go back to WI to live with his father when he was 16. My son was so desperate for his father's love and attention that he really believed he was going to get it when he moved back. He didnt. And he didn't get any guidance, accountability, concern, or even expectations...my son got heavily involved in drinking and pills. He is 23 now. We just found out he has liver damage from all of that. Doctor said, "Quit drinking or die". I picked him up a month ago to go to dinner. He smelled like alcohol. Now this song makes me sob for an entirely different, but connected reason.

How I'm a big brother, and how I started out as my baby sisters go to for advice and influence; to her go to for cigarettes, weed and alcohol. How I've fought & hurt the family that has done everything they could to support the dirtbag that I am. The goosebumps, the chills I have, all came from life through the hints of truth behind every story he sings.
