An Irish folk song, arranged by Los Angeles Guitar Quartet's Scott Tennant. Scott's sheet music can be purchased online. I learned to play this song by watching some very good Youtube videos and I'm working on transcribing it to tab. *** Drop D tuning ***.

Wild Mountain Thyme is also know as "Will you go Lassie, Go".

Lyrics

Oh the Summer time is coming

And the trees are sweetly blooming

And the wild mountain thyme

All around the blooming heather

Will ye go lassie go........

And we'll al lgo together

To pull wild mountain thyme

From around the blooming heather

Will ye go lassie go

.

I will build my love a bower

Near yon pure crystal fountain

And on it I will pile

All the flowers of the mountain

Will ye go lassie go............

And we'll all go together

To pull wild mountain thyme

From around the blooming heather

Will ye go lassie go

.

If my true love she were gone

I will surely find no other

Where wild mountain thyme

All around the blooming heather

Will ye go lassie go...........

And we'll all go together

To pull wild mountain thyme

From around the blooming heather

Will ye go lassie go

What brand of Classical, Nylon stringed guitar is that? I have an old Suzuki from 1971 my first guitar. Looking to purchase another classical guitar for practice and songwriting. I have four guitars and my steel stringed guitar is too much for practice and songwriting. Prefer the classical guitar for that. Let me know. Tim

The tune probably is Scottish and quite old. Francis Peake, an Ulsterman (Northern Ireland) of Scots descent, wrote the arrangement and put his name on it. The words are based upon a Robert Burns poem which the tune was probably sung with.

It's actually a Traditional SCOTTISH song, which was then "revived by Francis McPeake" - Who is Irish. The song was composed by Robert Tannahill originally...
