This version of Stagger Lee and the truncated video of Harrison doing Kansas City are great live recordings. What was the source?

@rb62470 I get what you're saying, I could even agree that it may not be the best version (I tend to prefer Lloyd Price's or Mississippi John Hurts'). I can listen to it very well though, I would say a solid performance. Nice boogy bottom line, I thought. Not saying you're wrong, your take is just as valid (if not more) as mine, just apparently more to my taste than yours.

met wilbert in the mid 70s in a bar in newark nj, he and i had a beer and he sang kansas city a few times and he joked around with a light bulb that would light when he put in on peoples heads, today his son wibert harrison jr came in my record store looking for a 45 record of kansas city on fury label, i had one, we listened to it and he rememberd his dad with storys, it was a pleasure meeting him as well as his dad, days like this make me glad i kept my record store open.....

This is a lame version, not that he could help it, as it's just he and his piano. Some songs can be stripped down to a vocal and piano and still be enjoyed. In my opinion this isn't one of them.

Wibert, without doubt, is probably the most smoothest bloke ever(check out the tash), even the cigarette smoldering in the background is smoking a cigarette!!!!

Wilbert was also an amazing one man band..guitar, harp, foot percussion.. We got to be friends with him in later years.. A man of great talent with a fascinating history.

flubs? lol Willie Dixon at Chess would apparently always use the take that had mistakes on it for the master - as they had a better character. In the sterile age of the clicktrack/cut/copy/paste, i reckon we could use a few 'flubs'!

Thanks for posting this info - i'd wondered what this was about - the Lloyd Price version came on when i was in the car yesterday. I love this version.
