Hey I'm Dave and this is my Drum Cover of When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin. This was the final song on their album Led Zeppelin IV. The drumbeat has been sampled in Hip Hop and other music since the 1980's, most notably in the Beastie Boy's song, Rhymin' and Stealin' on their 1986 album, Licensed To Ill. This is my own interpretation of a classic song. Cheers!

Credit to Led Zeppelin for creating this glorious song.

That's some fine playing. The only thing that prevents this from sounding like the original is that the original track was recorded faster and then slowed down by Page in post-production, which is partly why the cymbals have that woozy splashing sound and also why the guitar is in a strange untuned area around E/F. It was the combination of the slowing-down of the original track and the mic placing and natural reverb in Headley Grange that gave Bonham's original track that doom-laden ambience that it has.

Question, how do you isolate out the drums so that essentially you're the drummer? Or is Bonham's part there and im just not hearing it? I want to make some of my own covers but I don't really know how to go about it.

Dude.. Its amazing. Very good job... I'm not a drummer, but I listen this song something abou 15 or 20 years...My dream was play drum, but unfortunately always I had some problem just to try. For sure if I some day I get a drum the first song to learn will be this.I was guitar player and vocal for some years ago, but now I do nothing... Im trygin to learn something, joking with harp, nut I broke all my stuffs in the wall.. Guitars etc... Well, Im drunk and Im Borderline wiht a lot of compositions for too much time. But nobody heard more than 5% of them. I mean, whatever... Great song man, really good! Check my poor version absolutely drunk and without learn the music right. Keep in this way and good luck! Cheers from Brasil!
