One Of The Greatest Records Ever Made. Could You Believe Motown Quality Control Department Rejected This Masterpiece For A Song Called " Home Cookin ". I Heard It." What Does It Take " Wins. No Contest. Not Even Close. I Would Have Screamed Release This As A Single. It's A Smash. A Smmmmmmmmmmmmmaaash. I Wish I Was There.

So one Saturday night in about 1969 my late friend Terry Gillespie and I were stood in West Street, Mexborough and said we'd catch the first bus to come (one way to Sheffield or the other way to Doncaster) which is how we ended up in the Broken Wheel in Retford listening to Jnr Walker & The All Stars. What a fantastic night. R. I. P. Terry.

The way JR Walker sang this. The horn workin. The shakin steady tambourine. The background vocals doin those magic things. The spark of larger than life is handed to us.
