there was this family friend who was a metalhead named Jason and he'd babysit me and my sister in the mid 80s and every time he did it, he'd bring over a boom box and all his maiden, slayer, metallica, megadeth, sabbath, priest, cannibal corpse, etc tapes and just crank them. i thought he was the coolest dude ever and when i got older i got every one of the albums he'd played for us. the exact time i can say i became a metalhead is the day Pantera's Vulgar Display Of Power album came out and i bought the tape. loved Mouth For War but when A New Level came on..... everything i knew about music changed. the absolute hardest song i'd ever heard. i used to get pissed off that my walkman's volume didn't go loud enough cause that song is never too loud. every time i crank it now; i remember..... it's my favourite metal song of all time.
