This is a personal favourite and the transition, verse and crescendo just blow my mind every time. From about 1:45 on-wards, amazing.

frankly the harmony at my end was disappointing, & weak bass sound.Someone has "arranged" this; I prefer the original church harmony.

I truly do love this song. Yet, repying to your comments herein, have you truly researched the history of the song's author? If you have, do you conclude this song is about God's love for man -- or about a (lost) love for a man going blind?

Absolutely one the best interpretations of this piece I have ever heard. LOVE THE FFF at the end. Without it, the interp is completely lost! Mega-kudos! Great job!

No matter, who did this or that it is a beautiful song...one that my mother taught me and I will never forget...just be blessed by listening to it...that's what really counts!

David Phelps wrote this arrangement while a student at Baylor University before becoming lead vocalist of the Gaither Vocal Band... which then performed, recorded and published the arrangement featuring Phelps as lead vocalist. In all cases, Phelps is given full credit as arranger.

There is also a solo version of this by Caldwell. Thank you for this beautiful arrangement. This is beautiful from the very piano phrases to the double forte. You are an exceptional group.

I remember hearing this song at Princess Diana's funeral. I hope that all who hear it can feel the love of God that the author intended. What a beautiful rendition!

This arrangement is not of David Phelps. The song was written by George Matheson who was born in 1842. His story is really moving. He wrote this after going blind. The arrangement I think you mean is the one done of this song by The Gaither Vocal Band. It, too, is great, but lacks the depth of sound found in this version by the Westminster Chorus. Bill Gaither just simply doesn't have the depth of range that the basses do who sing in this group. Anyway, I enjoy it all. Seems you do, too.
