@sundrop1974 I've always wondered...what does a hat have to do with respect? It's just an article of clothing. Anytime I ask someone "what does taking a hat off have to do with respect?" All I get is, "it just does." I'm sorry, but I fail to see the logic in that answer. Like I said, it's just an article of clothing. Although I do think if you are going to be directing, you do need to take it off as it can limit eye contact...which, as a former director myself, I am all about.

@sundrop1974 They train amateur directors from their chorus, so I imagine the guy in the hat didn't even know he would be until that moment. It's not the pledge, so he may not have even considered tht disrespectful.
