I remember watching this in '79 and thinking - God, I hope she doesn't screw up. Elektra messed up. This album should have been promoted more. There are several great songs on the album that could have been big hits.

16 yrs old, started my first job, and immediatly began a love affair with a co-worker. Dumb teenager, dumb thing to do i know. The co-worker was 19, and free, i was in HS and still living with my folks. Really fell for the co-worker, who broke off the affiar for someone else, which broke my heart. I had just found this song, and remember it going thru my head over and over. Sure rang true for me! And, eventually did help heal the pupply love wounds. Thanks Carly.

best song she ever wrote, and the saddest. thinking maybe the 3 dislikes had to do with a big skip at "there's no distance at all," but as this may be the best version on youtube i'll take it any way i can get it. big fan since she first started tho i was a kid then...

this was her second appearance on SNL (promoting "Spy"); I read in Sheila Weller's book that she pre-recorded her first appearance (pregnant, fall of 1976) because of stage fright/nerves, so would explain lip-synching here - saw both appearances the night they originally aired (yeah, I'm THAT old), and you could'a fooled me! ~ but then I already had all the lyrics indelibly stamped in my brain, and wouldn't have noticed :)
