It was in contention for another album, I think. Don't know which one. This particular version falls into the "Early Album 5 Demos" category - it was from directly after Maladroit (July of 2002) when they brought in this Shmedley guy whom you hear on piano here. Apparently they told him he was going to be a 5th member of Weezer and then changed their minds after three weeks.

this song was only demoed for the green album, maladroit, and early into Make Believe I think. it never made an album or b-side however. this is the maladroit demo version.

What a fantastic rendition of such a FANTASTIC song! It's hard to decide which version is better, the version on SS2K definitely fits the punk-pop aesthetic of that album (probably why Cuomo picked it for that album) but there is something so special about this take...He went through a real trance faze when working his way towards the SS2K sound and this version of MK certainly shows the influence of the dream-pop experiments Rivers underwent while getting stoned as F*CK with Mikey-SS2K forever!

@lonelygnome1 that's what i thought back in 1996. it really gets annoying after about 10-12 years, after which one starts bitchin about the newer stuff they release while still secretly admiring the genius of rivers cuomo's songwriting talent. at least that's been the case with me.
