The Beach Walk

I was in the studio when this was recorded. Wednesday used to play at Kennisis Lake every Satuday night in the summer except one weekend when they played at my cottage. Unforgettable.

Originally sung by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers in 1964, this was later covered by Pearl Jam around 1998.

Got this on the album when non hits were sold off for 10 - 25 pence. Smashing bit of old school pop.

There was a '60s version, a '70s version... and a '90s version. There should have been an '80s version to balance it out!

Yes, and Wayne Cochran's original is on BEFORE THEY WERE HITS VOLUME 4. The intro of Wayne's original begins with the sound of screeching tires and a massive car wreck, and then the song starts.

This version was a big hit in the Chicago area. Got a lot of airplay on WLS and WCFL in the winter of 1974 and hit top ten on their respective surveys.

the original version of this song was Wayne Cochran in 1961, J. Frank Wilson and The Cavaliers covered this in '64

The origianl version by J. Frank Wilson was intended by kitschy and tongue-in-cheek. It seems like this recording is totally straight-forward. I think it's awful.

only me

Wednesday did a ok version of this but J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers are the best and one of their own
