@bezukov8 they were talking to Iran in this song. Please look up what was happening in 1977/78. But I agree, that line didn't age as well as the rest of the song.....

Love this song.. I became a fan in the 70's and play this music just about everyday still. Kris is a great song writer and some of my favorite songs Waylon and Willie recorded were written by him. Saying that I find it hard to pick a favorite song as so many of the songs are excellent and I listen to them all...

I love this song but that line, you know which one, has a racial charge that makes it hard to overlook. What is everyone's opinion of it? It never seemed to me that Willie, Waylon, or Kris ever had a racist ax to grind. The line seems like a sarcastic (and tasteless) take on the US relationship with Israel.

He did write it. And he was pretty bent on keeping peace not starting wars. He also (at that time in his life), liked getting high. Can't blame the man it was the 70's

I love Kris and Willie because they are incredible lyricists who made you think,(while you drink.) Kris has some incredibly spiritual songs written before this one. I hope people don't take the Jew comment as a rally cry. Both these guys write to make the listener think.

this is one of the best songs ever, and Willies I cant believe it true on the redheadedstranger album. Cant believe neither made it to radio, Bs just like the cma award show last night. Country aint country no more.

Yeah, Kristofferson wrote it.

This song was on the original "Waylon & Willie" LP from the 1970's. Political Correctness had it deleted from later CD editions. I guess Jews and Arabs can't take even the mildest of jokes. It's one of my favorite Waylon songs. I think Kristoferson wrote this song, but I may be mistaken.
