Memories are seldom linear, more often than not they wash over us, visit us in flashes and glimpses. We catch something of light for the corner of our eyes, we remember, we nod and smile. Unbidden they come, they catch our breath and we must forgive all over again. This is a song called "Visitation." The song originated with a poem called "Visitations" in my book A Permeable Life Poems and Essays and an experience of sharing a meal and listening to authors Courtney Martin and Parker J. Palmer in conversation.
