Vince Gill is Phenomenal, both as a guitarist and a vocalist. Here he exhibits both, --in a way that is to the top of top-shelf. His vocals go from his diaphragm, through his heart, and not around it, pulling off a beautiful rendition of this song. Not only does he make some cry with the emotional power of this song, he mimics Willie Nelson's style of guitar on his instrumental break. (yes, "truth seeker" this is a Willie Nelson song!) Vince plays his lead with an off-timing lag that struggles it's way to the major chord in typical Willie style. Believe me, that is a tough one to pull off especially in this venue. The only thing he is missing is cat-gut strings.

Yes, this is HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMANCES. I met this man in person , back in the 80ies. Drove him all over Holland (Europe) to do several gigs and studio recordings. What an exceptionally gifted musician, singer and composer.

I love Willie but Vince is amazing doing this song with both his voice and picking.

I've never heard Vince before but he has a good, sweet voice and can handle that guitar. But is it only the way I'm hearing him, or does he cut some of the words off before he finishes singing them. Something like "bl..eyes cryin in the ra.. That's the only way to explain, in writing, what I mean. The reason I've never heard him before is probably because he is not widely known here in Australia.
