Viking Moses (aka Brendon Massei) launches a new music video that was filmed during winter storm Pandora outside Youngstown, Ohio a few weeks ago. Viking Moses, who is known for forming impromptu pickup bands at worldwide concerts, seized the moment with Mother Nature and local photographer Melanie Rae. The new music video was made in a single “master shot” captured on first take.

“There were more cars in ditches than on the roads,” Massei relates, “During the fifteen minutes we were pulled over, a state trooper asked if we needed assistance.”

The song is the title track from Viking Moses's latest album Jahiliyah (an Arabic word meaning, "the age of ignorance".) Band mate Spencer Kingman, who had originally titled the song “Joseph Smith”, wrote the song.

Jahiliyah is a deeply contemplative work. The narrative, mythical at times, employs cinematic desolation as motif and follows a character that, harnessing his instinct, challenges his upbringing.

In Jahiliyah, Massei unleashes his most expressive work yet, with 10 dynamic full-band tracks that are epic while heartfelt. Strongly lyrical songs are played out through tunes that flirt with pop, soul, and Americana, all strung together with a unique pulsing guitar, and by Massei's robust voice, which ebbs from delicate whispers to throaty howls.

The lore of Massei's outsider lifestyle has won him interest and recognition, including a signing to Alan McGee’s Potptones label in 2006.

2013 saw the release of Werewolves Across America, a documentary by UK filmmakers Ed Lovelace and James Hall (Katy Perry: Part Of Me, The Possibilities Are Endless) about Massei's life and lifestyle as a touring musician. Massei's music also features on 2014's BAFTA-winning feature film Kelly + Victor.

In 2014, Massei was invited by the Consulate General of the United States, Guangzhou to perform and speak on the topic of American music culture throughout the People's Republic of China.

Many notable recording artists have performed Massei’s songs, including Malcolm Middleton of Arab Strap, Devendra Banhart, Phosphorescent, Deer Tick, Slow Club, and Adrian Crowley, among others.

Next week, Viking Moses begins a tour in UK that will take him down to Italy and throughout USA with intimate solo performances of Jahiliyah. Fans can learn more details about where to catch Viking Moses’s live shows by visiting www.vikingmoses.com.
