Vektor has their own style...pretty impressive stuff, though in all honesty it's not the sort of thing I'm in the mood for very often.

I randomly picked up their debut and thought it was pretty decent, and Dawn of the End sounds better. Haven't got it yet though.

Just for the record, thrash is still going strong, if you know where to look. Hexen(amazing stuff), Exmortus, Gama Bomb, Evile, Havok, Warbringer, Guillotine...all bands that have sprung up in the 2000's, all thrash. Not to mention all the old school acts still going strong-Overkill, Artillery, Heathen, Kreator, Testament, etc.

@Andybucker Definitely no offense taken here! :) I know what you mean man! I think it's probably something similar to what happened with grunge in the 90's. People see what sells, and they run with it. Hopefully the fact that all of the "-core"s out there are so comparable to that grunge situation is a sign that they're on their last leg. And I guess the bands from the 80's sounding more interesting probably has a lot to do with that: there was a lot more variety in sound AND lyrical content.

@monkeyvittles I did not want to interrupt your conversation, but I was about to ask exactly the same thing. Why is it that modern "metal" bands sound almost the same? There is some sort of "feel" of repetition, and of a completely dead sound. In addition, many singers in those bands even physically RESEMBLE each other. Why is this? How come the 1980's bands sound so interesting and ALIVE? - I don't want to offend anybody, I'm not even a professional musician, but still...

@narggla68 EXACTLY!! There's this band out there, called Gama Bomb, that's ALL ABOUT what we're talking about right now. They're fairly new (I think 2003) but they're as thrash as they come! They've actually had people bring in diet metal albums like those and destroy them en masse! Just thought I'd bring those guys up to show you we are NOT alone, my friend! :)

@monkeyvittles yeah i know wat u mean there are so many talented metal bands out there but they get overshadowed by bands like slipknot,av7and to many to name.

@narggla68 hahaha! Well, I'm not old enough to call myself old yet, but I'm still more than capable of recognizing this as a thousand times better than the monotonous drivel that plagues the airwaves nowadays. You know something's gone wrong when a song like this gets overlooked.
