Saw them both at the height of their careers. I love Chaka Khan and while she sure gained more fame and notoriety well deserved of course. Vesta in my opinion was better by far she just didn't get the breaks. That's life what can one say but she was the best. Her only equal though different in style was Phyllis Hyman. Phyllis and Vesta were the two best ever, Period.

You are absolutely 100% correct she was better than Chaka and I love Chaka so I don't say that lightly. You really had to see her live as I feel her records though great never show cased all of her talent. I also agree the only other singer of her caliber was Phyllis Hyman. Vesta and Phyllis without question were the two greatest R&B Soul singers ever to grace this pplanet. No one could touch them NO ONE.

I like this! Feeling the composition and the lyrics. We lost another beautiful angel that can't be replaced. I grew up listening to R&B in the 70's,80's and the 90's. Except a few artists today R. Kelly,Eric Benet,Ledisi and some others, no one is holding it down. She was just gifted and talented. Sure the drugs was a problem but even the drugs didn't rob her of her voice. I know her family,friends,fans and I miss her so much!

What an amazng strong and powerful voice another tragic ending to a wonderful unappreciated artist,let noone else lose themselves because of lack of concern from other. Don't allow others to affect your spirit and you lose control of who you are.
