You know what? It's irrational fan boys of other bands that want to pretend that Venom didn't start it all so they can feel like it was whatever band they like that did it. I love all the old school bands like Celtic Frost, Sodom, Bathory and Death (all of whom I agree took it to the next level) but Venom were the first. Chuck Shuldiner said it (Venon were the FIRST) and that's good enough for me.

@SinisterManiac Agreed. Venom did it first. Bathory's early stuff is great but Venom was the first and even Chuck Shuldiner agrees with us. Venom had all the ingredients first. The "Satans chainsaw" guitar sound, the lyrics, the imagery and the first blast beats. Not to mention Jeff Dunns dark, sinister riffs.
