They told the artist to play whatever. None ever met each other nor did they have any sheet music.

I hate this album. As an alcoholic in the 80's (and now), I listened to it 3-4 times a day. i hate it. And I love it, and think it's one of the greatest albums of all time. and I cry when when i hear the title track, everytime...

this song is my childhood. running barefoot, faster than the wind ( i used to think) on those soft muddy footpaths after the monsoon season. the beginning of summer. all those careless years of youth. after all these years of being a nomad, it reminds me of the only place in my heart i truly call my home

baseball. you must be suffering from esrtogen overload. this song breaths life. listen to what Van says and who he quotes. no mall doche will ever get it. this is a song about divorce and seperations. listen to Dylan's Blood on the tracks.

I've been part of a discussion group on combating racism, conducted by Richard Davis, the bass player on this album. He teaches jazz and classical bass at the University of Wisconsin. I only found out last week that he was playing on this album. Just an incredible sound, sets the tone for the album. He has (at least) two standup basses in his house, ready at all times. He is now 85 years old, still working. This is one of my all-time favorite albums. Subdued but powerful. And Van Morrison was so young at the time. We all were.
