Van Halen unreleased song "Jean Genie" by http://ChrisGossett.com/VAN_HALEN.htm , a David Bowie cover Van Halen performed at the Pasadena Hilton in 1976. This was not on the main Unreleased collection of Van Halen that is most famous. I have had this file for years but I don't see the Van Halen version on YouTube. Photography by official Van Halen photographer Neil Zlozower used with written permission. There are many more Van Halen song gems like this one that only the one percenters of Van Halen fans are even aware of, with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar and some others. Enjoy.

Thank You Al Gore for the Interwebs!! I looked for stuff like this years ago; but it wasn't here yet. Figures Bowie and Roth would have the similar feminine sensibilities with the lyrics. In totality, it comes off VERY well indeed for me. As do a couple other '75-76' VH bootlegs I've just heard!

First of all, there're no bad bootlegs. Second, can some one get the Power Of the Sky out of Eddie's hands so we still have some mountains left .

It is amazing. It was done a while ago; I can tell. Dave was singing the whole song live with good vocal tonality. I hate it when he doesn't sing the whole song all the way, but this sounds amazing. VH is one of the best bands in the history of Rock and Roll kid.

@gossett2006 have you noticed they do it in the style that David did for this song during the Diamond Dogs tour.

@Simon4642 Hey Simon! Awesome man, I'm glad you like it so much. Van Halen were underage teens when they did this. That makes it even more amazing. I think Ed was 17 or 18 when this show went off. It is from Gazarris 1974! Seventy FOUR! Check my channel, but also, my icon says my site address, chris gossett dot com. You have got to check it out. You will see 50 or 60 vids here. There are over 100 there! Rock On! Chris
