Every last promise of a great rock band fulfilled on this one track alone and yet at the same time so many unfulfilled promises of the great non-party and imaginatively no-holds-barred prog Van Halen album that never came, not even as a separate project and labour of love, Van Halen being such a huge fan of Bill Bruford and Allan Holdsworth. Instead, after 4 classic hard-rock albums in a row, each successive one selling less though still certified platinum, you had the big fear of losing lavish millionaire lifestyles forcing compromise, regression, totally unnecessary and lamely-done cover songs ("Pretty Woman," "Where Have All the Good Times Gone"),  more air-headed party atmosphere promoting drunkenness and the exquisite joys and wisdom of waking up in your own piss and vomit as often as you can, more lyrics aimed at 13 year old hormones, in short the mediocre sell-outs of "Diver Down" and "1984," which took their sales back up to the triple-platinum range of the first album. Non-stop mediocrity and more sell-outs followed for the next 30 years and continue to this day. That's what happens when your focus shifts from being an artist and spiritual liberator into being a bees-nest-man, being materially motivated rather than by the timeless spirit of elegant non-conformity and tempered-rather-than-compromised intensity which is the essence of the unique art form of rock'n'roll.

I was in the "corps" the first time I heard these guys. Just knew they were going to be something, the best of the time. With Davids vitality and personality and Eddie, Alex and Mark's remarkable talents, these guys were the best. Sorry haven't sobered up since when it comes their music. LISTEN!
