some things just gel if know what I mean...there is a reason classic Van Halen (Roth) sold more than Van Hagar albums! Roth must have fucked everyones girl friends back in the day becuz although they achieved success with Sammy, it does not fucking compare to what they did with Roth! Fuck singing live, Roth had his times, but his personality and the recorded material far surpasses anything they did with Hagar; the album sales tell it all!

Yeah, that just about sounds like him. Good to be the son of king I guess. Lifetime get out of jail free card..

Yeah, he was a handful even in Australia. Wireless mics would vanish during soundcheck and you'd hear his little voice coming out of the P.A. while everyone searched for him. Random important things would go missing. They started giving him an ice cream cone or something to keep his hands occupied in the hope that maybe it would be possible to get through sound check without a crisis.

Ah. One of Valerie's brothers is a friend of mine which is why I asked. I met Wolfie when he was a kid while at the beach house, he was tormenting Val's bother's dog I caught him in the act. He shit himself when I bagged him.

Nope. I babysat while they were on tour in Australia. Never really hung out with them socially or anything. Just writing a story and they were friendly to me.

Believe it or not our paths may have previously crossed. Have you been to the beach house in Malibu?

Well, and the kid has been playing since he could walk. Ed had him playing a tiny Wolfgang tuned to an open chord before his fingers could span a guitar neck. Jamming with "dad and uncle Al" was his favorite thing from the time he could walk. I got to babysit that kid when he was seven years old while his mom and dad went and had had dinner on their anniversary. I've still got crayon drawings he did for me, so I'm a little biased about him as a person.

I'm a bass player. Went to BIT and that whole schtick. Wolfie may look out of place on stage with Van Halen, but his playing is world class. Mike's voice is in a tenor range, which worked well with Dave's baritone. Mike's intonation was always terrible, though. When you listen to live recordings it works because it's in the right range, but it was never much more than a high yell. Wolfgang has great intonation. I mean, his vocals are a little light on character, but he's very tight.

Being that I've only seen Wolfie here on Y/T, my knowledge of what he can do with 4 strings is somewhat limited. Overall, in my book Mike wins hands down. From what I've seen, Pugsly stand there looking as out of place as one can get. A boy in a man's world if you will. Mikes voice is signature. I'm a bass player. I like to think I know a little sumthin -sumthin about 4 strings. Mike holds down the fort well. He's no Entwistle, but then doesn't have to be and wasn't supposed to be.
