I don't think Sammy was the reason the band went in a new direction. I think it started with Jump and 1984.

A fantastic guitar player trading licks with the absolute best. Very nice to watch and hear.

Sammy might not be no Eddie, but he's a plenty capable guitarist, I saw him in Beaumont, Tx. in 1984. He had Nightranger opening for him. They both put on a great show!

I love this tune but I wish Eddie would back off on this rocker. This is a classic hard driving rock song and all that finger tappin' detracts from the flow. It just doesn't fit in my book. Listen to the original Sammy 1981 version.

OMG, I LOVE this. Talk about a band at the top of the heap! The musicianship is just insane. Watching that duel between Hagar and EVH was incredible. My favorite concert moments were always when all four were playing instruments. EVH is king, but Hagar is hardly a slouch himself.

What happened to Eddie's gitar licks? They are muted!

Dee, Hagar was a part of VH longer and had more success than DLR did. More records and number 1 hits. I liked both eras of VH. Both had their highlights. I personally liked the Hagar years better myself. They went to a whole other level when sammy joined. More focus on the music and less on the karate kicks!!

Sometimes I forget that Sammy played guitar, and this video is always a great reminder of how talented he is
