I'd be willing to bet Eddie fired who ever set his delay at mach 10.

Far too rushed; Cathedral should always be played slowly; it is the key to its meaning.

So many techniques originated with Eddie and many others remained unexplored or in their infancy until Eddie adopted them and presented them to the public. The man changed rock and roll guitar forever. Any guitarist playing today must tip their hats to this innovative man.

I've heard the original, but I was sayin' he played it right, 'cause that's the way I interpreted what you said.

Turning the volume on and off to create the organ sound, that's what the hell he's doing with his right hand. :)

It's supposed to sound like a church organ piano.

If you look and hear carefully you will know that. that means that Van Halen only plays the half part of the song, and the eccho effect put the notes between the real notes, in the silence moments, the moment when Van Halen turn off the volume. Now we can say that Cathedral is an eccho song ^^

you forget something... when he plays a note and he turns off the volume, just in that silence moment, the echo effect plays another note. I will try to explain: X this is a note when volume is on. (X) this is a note when volume is off (the eccho effect plays this note) so if Van Halen plays a number of notes, the echo effect make this: 1-(no note)-2-(1)-3-(2)-4-(3)-5-(4)-6-(5)-7-(6)-8-(9)-10-(9) ....
