Josiah and I drove up to Portland Maine on Sunday from Gorham NH because we heard that VAN Halen was performing there. We arrived at the Arena and still needed tickets. Josiah went to purchase tickets as I went went to park the van. Before I had barely got of of the van Josiah had purchased tickets from somone in line for 12 or 15 dollars! Even in the 80's you have to agree that the price ain't bad. One thing for sure was that it would be highly unlikely for that to happen in front of MSG! Van Halen took the stage after the group that had that hit, "Taking Care of Business" (BTO?) performed their set. I didn't realize it at the time but one of the reasons Eddie was able to get that sound that you first hear at the beginning of the concert is because he has about 4 guitar picks attached to a power drill and when he presses the button he begins to play the guitar with the power drill with the for picks on it. This is evident in the Van Halen DVD "Live without a Net! While this, at the time, unexplainable sound is HOWLING through the Arena, Sammy says "Are you ready for some more of this crazy sh**? You know it really doesn't matter who is relatively better as a frontman for "Van Halen," because both Sammy Hagar & David Lee Roth brought their own styles towards their singing. David was presented as a "Good time party boy" while Sammy was more of a matured vocalist. Both are/were incredible.

Man some of the old you tube tracks like from the 82' Largo show, they sound awful, but they actually sound pretty tight here. Good entertainment value for your buck in those days. I wouldn't even know what to go buy a ticket for now.
