I find it heartening that VH actually recorded a Little Feat song. It just shows what great musical taste the members have/had by covering it. Of course, nobody can top Lowell and the Feat, but this version has it's own groove.

Horrible version. These guys suck. Want to hear a great version listen to Little Feat with Mick Taylor. That will blow you away

However, at least some cassette copies (and original vinyl LP) of the album don't include this song.

I'm apolitical where it concerns lead singers, validity of blues, which detergent will get my whites whiter, or what guitar strings are better. Shut up and rock out.

Blues are EXTREMELY over-rated, and not an amalgamation of songs, & inspirations, which came before it, but a cliche', damn-near exact clone of one single fucking song, which can be played, by anyone, in their sleep. All that being true, STILL better than today's noise, & Eddie was great, esp. when picking up a non-cheer leader guy,. like Sammy, who had talent & heart. Dave was a fucking cheerleader, attention whore, who got his, begging, year after year, after his stint didn't work long.

yeah, the version on Waiting For Columbus is a huge musical highlight. Van Halen being the kings of the cover version did a damn good job

The Van Halen bros dedicated this song to their late father as it says in the liner notes "This one's for you, Pa!" According to Wikipedia, "A Apolitical Blues" was absent from the original European release of "OU812" and also on a lot of cassettes. Some cassettes and all CDs and original American releases (I have the U.S. CD release) have this rather sparse sounding song.
