Gee DrTomaculas, I think you are giving Walt a disproportionate amount of praise..I did the same thing you did after I read your comment..I listened to three songs and I guess I'm not hearing what you hear..Where are the complex chords.?.Where are the clever "Bacharachian" key changes.?Wheres the JAZZ.?? .That's the SOUL of Steely Dan..The other two were basically funk influenced blues and This song is a one chord elevator tune...

I've just listened to 3 tracks from this album for the first time. I'm actually hearing the Steely Dan I grew up with and loved so much. It's got all the hallmarks of what I responded to. Having bought both The Nightfly and Kamakiriad, it wasn't that I was unhappy with Fagen's solo world. It's just when I've heard later work, it's not hitting me with much impact. I've changed. They've changed. But every track I've heard from Becker's Circus Money, is saying the soul of Steely Dan, is Becker.

@lagoamemo if Becker were not to show up for a Steely Dan concert, people would care then! Becker's a strong solo artist and it's sad you are correct.
