Thankfully most of us do not put any weight in to the opinions of anyone base enough to use the word "gay" as an insult. Now go back to listening to your simpleton music.

The weight and measure of a good song is in how well it stands up to different and drastically different arrangements. The original is awesome, and this version by Unto Ashes is also awesome with it's melancholy somber arrangement.

When it comes to remakes and cover songs, I only hate them if I feel they're only being done for a payday or to gain popularity. For example when they redid Nightmare on Elm Street, I didn't get the impression they loved the original so much they just wanted to pay tribute to it with their own version, I felt they were going for a payday since they saw how well Zombie's remake of Halloween did. But when Zombie redid Halloween, I knew that was to pay tribute to Carpenter. Zombie went on about the original for years, he just adored the fuck out of it.The same goes with cover songs.. when some bands do them its merely to score a hit, or to make it into the mainstream. Orgy's Blue Monday comes to mind when it comes to a cheap way to score a hit. But when Unto Ashes covered the song below.. it felt genuine...

They wrote new music for it.... Gay..... They made it worse... The original already had perfect melodies... This is so melodramatic.

I just searched and listened to all of the covers of this song and this one is doubtless the best!! Such harmony and darkness at the same time...!

Gus Black has done a better version. It's from the Scream Soundtrack.

@Loreleischant You should look up Current 93's cover of "This Ain't The Summer Of Love".
