I don't consider Slayer a predecessor to Death metal. They've only got what a year or two on bands like Death, Napalm Death, Carcass and a slew of other??? Just don't see it man. Whole different genre.

what does being American have to do with it... if countries have something to do with it you should know that Venom isn't from America either they are from Newcastle, England. and in my opinion i am not giving Slayer to much credit i said that Slayer helped to create Death Metal not that they did it alone.
