Some bands come along like a supernova and alter the way you listen to music forever. For me, Underworld is one of those bands. Not only is it the band that got me raving, but for so many like myself, Rick Smith, Karl Hyde and Darren Emerson were the gateway to a new form of dance and electronic music in the same way that the Sex Pistols or The Clash heralded punk for others. Back in the early '90s, I was working with Trent Reznor during a time when the electronic scene in the US was minimal. I'd be at the infamous Limelight for their "Industrial nights" or at venues seeingalternative electronic acts found on labels like Wax Trax or Belgium's Play It Again Sam, like Meat Beat Manifesto and Front 242. #underworld #keepitnationalandaboveground or #keepitlocalandunderground

I love this album so much. The concert footage in this video is from a episode of Dutch tv show called "Lola Da Musica" it was taken in Leeds, England on 29 Mar. 1996.

Very interesting to see the original recordings, in particular. Quite befitting that this exact record is republished, it has moved peoples hearts long after its original release. My uncle would bring these obscure mixtapes he'd recorded off underground radio, and my mom would play them in the car whenever we went anywhere. Underworlds music have almost always been a big part of the soundtrack to my life, and is the single biggest influence in my own feeble attempts at making music.The 5CD deluxe set is a true work of art, and it's very interesting to hear how experiments with different elements, make tracks you've known and loved for 20 years completely different. My Rez vinyl arrive tomorrow ^^
