There were over 500 different recordings of Unchained Melody, I remember Harry Secombe (from The Goons) doing it around around 1955 in a Goon-type voice accompanied by a banjo. England's Jimmy Young had a #1 hit with it.

This song was first recorded by Roy Hamilton, then by the Platters. The platters version and the righteous brothers were the same. This lovely song is one of my favorites of all time.
Roy Hamilton and Elvis Presley sound so much a like. They actually recorded a few songs together.
