This is one of the great Grateful Dead songs. That occasional example of Phil Lesh's songwriting talent. One can tell that this song was not merely "jammed" into existence. These was some sort of feeling or "funk" that he was in and in response to that, he played the initial draft of this song..... Most likely while staying at the Mars Hotel :-)
