Anyone who is suffering from depression, when feeling like it's the right time to try and get off bed and just go outside... no matter how miserable you fell, GO OUT, WALK AND LISTEN TO THIS SONG.

This song helps me cure depression. A random stranger sent it to me on Omegle today.

Listen to the phrasing in this song. It's all so very specific. They do improvise a lot live, but even they themselves even describe their approach to improvisation as more of an "on the fly composition" where they will introduce phrases that are 8-16 bars long and employ many different chord changes which soon gain a certain degree of specificity after a few repetitions. They don't just jam, they write songs on the spot.

How is umphrey's not a jam band? If I go to an almost 2 hour show and only hear 8 songs, you're either jamming or I'm robotripping too hard

I think that might be one of their favorite meters. I say this because another one of their popular songs, Andy's Last Beer, is the same in the breakdown at the end.
