This is from the last album with Paul Chapman on board and would be the last decent release until the reunion with Michael Schenker. UFO are still one of my favorite hard rock bands. Really love the lyrics on this. I do not own the rights to this.

Tommy McClendon just didn't fit the band at all! I'm not saying that he is a bad guitarist, I'm just saying that his style and sound was just like a square peg in a round hole. It seemed like all he ever did was shred!!! I never ever captured any sense of rhythm or melody! Yes, I was so glad to see the original lineup get back together for WALK ON WATER, but the album before that is so underrated that it makes me want to scream!!!! That album is HIGH STAKES AND DANGEROUS MEN! The guitarist on that disc is Lawrence Archer, and his style and sound is absolutely phenomenal!!! And that's the only studio album that he is on. That disc is so awesome from start to finish...........the music, the production, the engineering! The thought crosses my mind every day as to where the band would have gone had they kept that lineup! If you've never heard HIGH STAKES AND DANGEROUS MEN, check it out.........it's pretty much the crowned jewel of my UFO collection!

Where is the bio attributed to the movie on Youtube.

It's not uncommon to change the names of characters of real life stories in movies to as they say "To protect the innocent". Not sure why Phil changed the name except I think he saw it in Rolling Stone magazine and may not have payed attention to the name. The name he used was very similar to the actor who replaced Ron Howard on Happy Days at about the very same time, Ted McGinley.

BTW, thanks for the head's up. I didn't have time enough to view the whole 1991 TV movie, as it demands a lasting Net connection on my end, but the odd thing is the names change in the song, the TV movie and supposed bio attributed to the TV movie upload on YT

I bought that and the live in Japan CD that features the same lineup. With Monkey Puzzle and The Visitor I've not yet bought the albums because the metro area of Minneapolis have forgotten to stock the new UFO and Waysted albums, bastards!

I can't speak about Phil's personal state other then what I did read, when this album and Waysted's VICES were both brand new LPs, I was already a fan of the band, and VERY very disheartened to hear they'd opted to break up, it took until 1985 with the new Jim Simpson, Paul gray, Atomik Tommy M lineup for UFO to resume with two under-rated releases, Ain't Misbehavin' and Misdemeanor. I read Phil was showing up at bars and Pete was already known for falling down on stage, perhaps drunk?!?

I always thought the 1992 album "High Stakes and Dangerous Men" was very underrated. Shows the begining of the Texas blues direction UFO would take in the Vinnie Moore years.

Phil was pretty much in a haze back then so it wouldn't surprise me he couldn't recall. Neal Carter also had songwriting credit on this song so I wonder if he recalls how this song came about. If you want to know more about the actual story about this, Google "In Broad Daylight" and "Henry Mclean" who is the author. He also has a blog on this story at henrymclean.3letterword starting with c. He has even mentioned this song and has said he would do a short blog posting on this.

I know, or seem to recall that Phil Mogg said he saw it in the paper, at the time inspiring the song writing, but when interviewed, he couldn't recall the story, so there ya go. Good to know, since it's all pretty interesting if you ask me!

Sorry, WOW was 1995, little slip up. Anywho, Atomik Tommy was a good friend of Frankie Hannon of Tesla as I understand it

Wouldn't say it's the last good UFO record up until Walk On Water in 2005. The 1985 lineup was just fine, if you have some issue with Atomik Tommy McClendon, a lot of people like me appreciate his input to UFO, as well as Jim Simpson and Paul Gray

This song was based on a real story. There is a book and a movie called "In Broad Daylight" which tells more of this event. The movie can be seen here in on Youtube in full length in you enter "In Broad Daylight" for the search column.
