Hi all
Found the original video on youtube, but it had no sound (?) but it was videoed well enough (uploaded by ptdwilson) so I decided to add the audio from the IEM recording of the same concert (that's doing the rounds at the moment) and it's worked really well!
This performance is a great understated version of One Tree Hill and Bono is on top form. The Edge pulls off a gentler sublime solo (which Bono appreciates) and it all makes for an excellent performance by the band.
For people that don't know about IEM recordings, they can be recorded by scanners picking up a band members radio signal to their personal IEM (In Ear Monitor), but can also be tapped into by plugging into the mixing desk/soundboard. IEM recordings differ in sound from straight soundboard recordings as they contain the feed from the sound crew so you get to hear instructions and count-ins by the crew. Also noticeable is the sound of a 'ticking' metronome - this is to help keep the band members in time with each other -- this 'ticking' puts off a lot of collectors and fans from listening to this these types of recordings.
Another bad point with IEMs is that they are only from one band member's feed so you do get to hear the other band members, but they're usually lower in the mix. You also tend not to get too much crowd noise as IEMs are personal monitors so only pick up what's coming through -- which can contain some crowd noise, but its usually very low in the mix.
Anyways, hope ya enjoy it!
