I'm of the 'Ugly Organ Is Best' camp, though my favourites aren't the usual picks - Gentleman Caller and Staying Alive for me - but this is the best since. Ties for second place alongside Songs Of Early Summer.

Do I hear some Stylophone at the start of this song?

If you listen through their Discography from SBSFSE all the way through I Am Gemini, you'll have a better grasp on his style from the actual music to his vocals- which have grown tremendously since 1997, and will definately be able to appreciate Happy Hollow for all that its worth.

I find that most people who discovered cursive through The Recluse and the Ugly Organ have a skewed image of their music. It was very catchy, easy to listen to, and now theres a surge of new fans, trying to hold comparison from The Recluse to songs like Big Bang from Happy Hollow and The Dirt of the Vineyard from SBSFSE.

No problem. Glad to know there's one more person out there who isn't disappointed by that album.

Yeah I had to look that up after I read the original comment. Very sad.

I think that's the best part, that no two albums have exactly the same sound. And if you like Tim's use of language, I think you would like Mama, I'm Swollen if you haven't already heard it. Sadly (sort of), that's the first Cursive music I ever heard, I could listen to that album all day, provided I'm in the mood.

Art Is Hard is a good song but they have a way better style and range than just expecting a song like Art Is Hard over and over. Fuck people are dumb but hell I'm sure some douche bag thinks what I am saying is fucking stupid too. As for Eight Teeth To Eat You, I agree that EP is badass. I saw Cursive and Eastern Youth together in Nashville after that EP came out. It was a great show I think it was 2002 or 2003

I don't know about you guys but I think this album is amazing and I love Ugly Organ and Happy Hollow, I don't think I could put them in order of my favorites. And I really love this song.

@goddamnitjustwork also the 8 Teeth to You EP is pretty fantastic IMO

@goddamnitjustwork I know what you mean, man. There's those albums you got a long time ago, listened to hundreds of times, and now nothing that artist releases quite feels the same, even if you like it. Kinda surprised you don't think Ugly Organ is best, on most of the videos from this album and MIS, the consensus seems to be "shut up and re-record Art Is Hard" and such. And I won't lie, there's some songs off earlier records I like, but IAG and MIS are the only ones I really like entirely.

Im not gonna say some kind of shit like that.Im not holding onto to the past of what their music used to be,its just my opinion & hell maybe I'm totally wrong. In no way do I think Ugly Organ is their best album. It is a great album, without that album they wouldn't have been as widely known. I think Domestica is my favorite album or Storms. Storms was the first album I heard of them but personally those two meant something to me. It could be that it's a soundtrack to good times Ah Fuck it

@goddamnitjustwork But even though super I'm tired of the "not as good as Ugly Organ" crap, I can make an exception for comments like yours. At least you have the dignity/respect for Tim to admit that it's just your opinion and not absolute, subjective fact. Props.

@goddamnitjustwork I'll be honest, I didn't even know who Cursive was until I saw them open for Alkaline Trio (ticket was free, not a fan of them) a bit after Mama, I'm Swollen came out, and the show was AMAZING. I bought MIS that night, and listening to it later, it was WAY more mellow and (insert common complaint about "new cursive") than it was live. I still love that album, but the point is I listen to Cursive with that mindset, and not one like having already been a fan of Ugly Organ.
