There is no greater song than this one for the way that ALL relationships SHOULD be formulated. Could we but imagine this were true [for the long term] ? Talk about a witness of 'salt and light' God's covenant of marriage would have for the world were this true? It would surely be reflected on the marriage/divorce statistics of Christians, more indicative of the world's philosophy. the Holy Spirit worked beautifully in the hearts and minds of [the writer] and of Twila and Steven to bring us this most worthy song! Thank You for these lyrics, Lord, keep them etched in OUR relationships.

I heard this song on a CD tonight and heard a line that I hadn't paid attention to before. Twila sings the line "should it ever come your time mourn I will weep with you" --how said that those words had to play out so tragically strong for their friendship. I remember her sending SCC love when the tragedy happened.

I just LOVE this song. It's nice to see some Christian singers not being flashy and materialistic, just using their talents for the Lord.

glad to know its not a husband/wife song. more for a best friend. I was going to sing this in church since it describes my best friend.

chrisst41 So well said and see: Exodus 34:14 Wycliffe Bible (WYC) 14 do not thou worship an alien God; a jealous lover is the Lord’s name, God is a fervent lover; (do not thou worship any foreign, or any other, god; for the Lord’s name is Jealous, and he is a jealous God;)

I've tried for years to get my wife to sing this in church with me as a duet, but she doesn't think she sings well enough. Heck, she can hit Sandi Patty stratospheric notes! She's got a superb voice. It's not really a husband/wife song, but by tweaking a couple of lines near the beginning ("simply as a friend") it can easily be made to work. Besides, don't a husband and wife have to be faithful friends in order to have a successful marriage?
