It is well-known that Pete did all the heavy lifting as far as guitar goes with the group. Pete played LEAD guitar. That is him in the left channel. This is not to take anything away at all from Danny Kirwan, who was excellent. But Danny followed Pete's lead....echoed it...filled in. The band, based almost entirely on PG's supreme virtuosity, were encouraged by the Grateful Dead to take more of an experimental, improvisational approach--which the Dead had pioneered in their live shows. You can hear the beginnings of it here. Truly great stuff from a phenomenal band. They were gone all too soon. Interesting that the billion-selling pop Fleetwood/McVie/Nicks/Buckingham group is currently gearing up for a reunion tour. I will not denigrate them by saying something inane like PG's band was better. I just wish things had turned out better for PG, Danny, and Jeremy. But Jeremy can still play one helluva slide!

Apparently it was actually an entirely reversed coil, not the magnet, though they accomplish virtually the exact same thing.

Shame it tails off as I suspect the jam lasted a lot longer. Thanks for the upload :)

If you think the solo was played by Danny Kirwan, you are sadly mistaken.

Amazing how many think it's only Green laying down these amazing licks. Can I have a Danny Kirwan, pleeze?

Great how you managed to combine the Rattlesnake Shake video with this Tutti Frutti audio. Also nice that you incorporated the (in my opinion) mysterious lady dancing at the New Years eve party (the on with the weird silver plated dress. And then these rock 'n roll dancers: magnificent. Cheers, Greeny (and Kirwan) 1968-1970 forever!

Don't forget the Shrine 69, less rock and more blues. I kinda like that one even more.
