For my #nerdy9th, I'm going to talk about a hobby I've recently gotten back into: Dance Dance Revolution.I used to play this a ton back in California, before I moved up here. The machines were everywhere, and most of my friends were into it. I was never amazing at it, in that most of the people I knew were on par or better at it than I was, but I got pretty proficient, to where I could pass pretty much every 8 difficulty song and some of the 9's on lucky days.I've gotten back into it in the past month or so, and while my skill has definitely deteriorated, it feels really good to be doing again. Besides the exercise benefits(and they're definitely there, I sweat up a much fiercer storm playing DDR than I do pushing myself at the gym), I really outright like the game, despite(or maybe even because of) the cheesey music. It's a neat way to do a game, and it's something that I always feel good about going and doing.I've got a ways to go before I'm back to where I was, but I'm getting back there faster than I expected. I passed one of the hardest songs I ever full comboed a couple weeks back, and I managed to full combo something again for the first time since I started up again yesterday. My next target is to get back to where I can pass this:Tsugaru - HeavyNow if only somewhere in town still had Dancemaniax...

Man this was one of my favorite DDR tracks. I was never much into doing tricks while playing, but I could face away from the screen and nail the gallops perfectly on this song.

You'd be surprised. Check out the steps for "In the Navy" which was in DDR 3rd mix for the grand daddy of all gallop steps. "Luv 2 Me" from the same mix also had a variation of it. In terms of just using 1/32 arrows, many songs in 2nd mix had them too, most notable being "I Believe in Miracles". Such a fun chart to play. FYI I'm only referring to maniac charts here.
