The Yellow King is a name for the avatar of the elder god Hastur, Hastur, like Cthulu is a being from beyond our time and reality (as per Lovecraftian addition to the novel and the version the show seems to adopt). The fatass refers to Rust as the prince/priest, names reserved for Hastur who led the war against the creator race of these beings. He also asks Rust to ''take of his mask'' as in Chambers' play the women ask  the King in Yellow to remove his mask (and grow mad when he does so)Carcosa is the mythical/hypothetical place over which Hastur/The yellow king reigns as he floats like a giant ugly mfer over lake Hali,near the dead city of Alar.In the show,Carcosa is represented by that labyrinth at the end, but it is also a metaphor of Rust's mind, which ponders over the ''universal'' truth of life and the cyclical time.The labyrinth scene is a 2 way journey as Rust discovers the ultimate truth of the killings as well as the ultimate truth of the themes he ponders trough the show. His revelation is complete as he demonstrates at the end in his talk with Marty.
