Tristania - Exile

Their new song from their brand new album Rubicon, released August 27th!

LYRICS

I'm light years away

You can't change me

I'm passive and cold

Just waiting

I've seen the future's threatening sky through dreams at night

I've seen the dogs of war let loose I've seen the blood-red sky

Night

A promise of rain

Divided we stand

A distance I can't take anymore

In the cage in the corner

I'm safe from the beast

Once you wanted me, the image of me

I've played that game a million times and see the signs

I've played that game from A to Z I've lost a million times

Wounds are open again

Divided we fall

I'm bleeding from the dark of my soul

Burning in water

Drowning in fire

Personally I agree with you and people need to consider this as well. When a band has a name and represends a certain kind of music and a particular atmosphere, and then they change almost everything, line-up, sound, performance etc, they will only bring disappointment and the most expected lead-singers' comparison. They changed what they were standing for for so many years. I believe they should change the name as well. Because this is not Tristania for me. It's another band.

I agree with you. Besides, Rubicon is not that far from Illuminations musically

I with they had made the music video for this song instead of Year Of The Rat. YOTR is a great song, but it doesn't show off Mary or Kjetil's voices very well, so it doesn't surprise me that some people were so quick to doubt Tristania's new album and line-up. This song is (in my opinion) the best song on Rubicon, and Mary and Kjetil sound brilliant in this song. So it would have made more sense (to me) if they had given this song the music video instead of YOTR.

I do think it will be a good idea change they name, just because Mary CAN´T sing the old song PD: I like Mariangeles

Demurtas has an awesome accent aside from her heavy accent. I wish they used her more like how she was on this track and protection. She can dance vocally with her full voice and that should be highlighted

Mary's voice is absolutely stunning in this song. I personally am one of the few fans that like Mary better than Vibeke, although both were/are INCREDIBLY talented and have amazing vocals.

Mariangela has a great voice, that's unquestionable but I love Vibeke too much!

It annoys me when people say a band should change their name, what gives any of us the right to say what the band should sound like, so they play a certain style for a while, if the core of that band decide on a change, so be it, it's their band, not ours

Beautiful voices!

@GOTHIKKOALA It would give mary a bit more room and lessen her pressure to be as good as vibeke but the two are so different in style that comparing will be hard

Old Sepultura fans, the Cavalera era is over. Old Stratovarius fans, the Tolkki era is over. Ols Nightwish fans, the Tarja era is over. OLD TRISTANIA FANS, THE VIBEKE AND ANY OTHER FUCKING ERA IS OVER. Or you enjoy their new work or go to a museum and enjoy the past. Fuck off, it's already 2011 and people still complaining because of the members who left... sigh.

@GOTHIKKOALA I honestly completely agree with the name change. The Tristania I truly came to know was beautiful gothic metal, quite possibly the KING of gothic metal, and with all the member changes over the years, especially with Morten gone, the band is not really Tristania. I mean, yeah, bands can try something new, but this isn't Tristania. I do LOVE this CD, but it just can't be marketed as Tristania to those of us who know the original.
