@lectwar You use the tubescreamer in conjunction with the amps distortion channel, bassically adding more juice.. You bring the gain down on the amp itself then you make up the difference on the pedal and play around with the pedals tone control etc. Its an old technique used quite alot in metal, usually a set up of a tube screamer into a noise supressor then into the amp, do a bit of research and you'll get more info I only know so much about it.. Plus reamping technique helps..

@marorococa id agree with you and it does have something to do with the way he plays and the combination of the mid low and high frequencies on his pedal
