for some unknown reasons internationals have rarely heard this guy in the states particularly but Tricky was a huge part of Massive Attack the UK act that almost formed the genre of trip hop on their own in a sense he went solo and has had much success he is too big and too creative minded too strong to be confined by a band it seems he has done some great work on his own with collaborations of broad musiciansthe trip hop genre was defined by Massive Attack and Portishead in the mainstream acts but spawned a huge underground scene I believe the sound is like hip hop without the mc or rap vocals more with female vocals and spoken word rather than gangsta themes which probably grabbed a whole new audience and fan base from those who could not stomach hip hop and rap this music is certainly dark edged and not your happy happy musicposted on the AfterParty community google plus9 years ago
