This is a rare recording of Transmission, from the self-titled album Warsaw, released in 1994.

Recorded at Arrow Studios, Manchester, England, May 1978. The song was written by the band during the final week of rehersals and the first verse contains a quotation from Alistair Crowley's "The Book of Thoth."

There are few clips of the early Joy Division when they were known as Warsaw. I have uploaded all of the songs from the album with no copyright infringment intended. I make no profit from uploading these clips, and they are available purely for enjoyment and educational use.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via a Video Comment or by sending me a Profile Comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Great stuff, but a bit pedestrian compared to the 12" vinyl I have, from about 81 I think. Came with a floppy vinyl record of Komakino too.

I'll be honest, I like this one much better than the official one

I like how the bass line kind of has a dub reggae feel to it.

This was held back In my IMHO b/c if released Beneard, Peter and Stephenhad nothing else to release in the 90's Technique and Republic were terrible and at the end of Factory Records so they needed a little cred. Doesn't stop this material timeless and unrepeatable. Best stuff they ever did and a band destroying album even at Rerelease 20 years later lol

Ian's essence radiates from every recording - his words and emotion penetrate through everything, which makes it feel like he is in the room with us.

People seriously romanticize these old recordings. The remastered versions are miles ahead of this.

I do the exact same thing! I study philosophy, I always write my papers at night while listening to (mainly) Joy Division :D
