I once got on some kid's use of good equipment here on YT cause he played the wah with his knees and he really sucked so I suggested he use his money for lessons and of course he berated me some just shows his age, but frankly whatever level you're at you definitely show alot of promise bless you for it, you helped me out some because I use an open E for slidework and something clicked for me THANKS, keep on doing ur heart's work you're young but eventually you'll be at where we all want to be!

Look at the live clip from around 1979-80 (it used to be in heavy rotation in the early days of MTV). He's clearly in open E (or right around there). He spends a good part of the song just hitting the open chord. He may have played it onstage differently from the studio version, but it doesn't sound that way to me.

Dude, Sounds Great!!! Blackfoot was a awesome band in there time and nobody can say otherwise either. What gets me is, arm chair assholes, who have nothing better to do than ridicule others, for their short comings, nobody ever sounds like the original player or song. If that were the case, all music would sound the same. Keep up the good riffing.
