A magnificent voice - have also loved her for many years - Kay Smith: don't take it personally.  I have emailed her a few times and she was always very kind.  Must have been a bad day.

Kay Smith,  I'm sure you just caught Tracy at a bad moment.  She's always been gracious to me and my friends.  But I know she's sometimes been upset about sound quality or some other performance related issue and that perhaps can throw her off.  She's a perfectionist and there have been times when I sensed it might not be a good time to stop by and say "howdy."

I saw her sing in Memphis, TN so many very special times.  At the Peabody Hotel in their music room and Beale Street music festivals.  She is a very special voice.  Wish we had more like her now....but that just shows she is one of a kind! Thanks Tracy!!

Loved her all my life. Saw her first in 1971 I think in Northern VA. However, when I approached her in the 90s at a music festival in Hagerstown to tell her I had idolized her since youth, she was extremely rude. People are strange, as the Doors would say LOL

From the same "Living with the Animals" is "Mother Earth", a great song and a great blues intensity and at the time from a very diminutive Tracy Nelson.

My favorite vocalist of all time. I have all of her albums and CDs and have seen her perform twice. She never disappoints and should have been as big a star as Janis or other strong vocalists.

Tracy at her best.  This song is on the album "Living With the Animals" by Mother Earth.  I'm a proud owner of that original vinyl.

I absolutely live for this song! Tracy has a hell of a lot of good music, but this will always be my favorite. If you're interested Cindy Lauper's version is quite a tribute to Tracy.

this woman doesn't sing notes, she nails them to the wallunlike the "urban yodeling" of American Idol and worse; here, volume and force are matched ounce for ounce with authenticity and feelingDown So Low (Live) - Tracy Nelson
