+QueefSniffer @QueefSniffer Wait till you stand before the Almighty, don't fret son you'll get your chance to "punch Him in the face" when you stand before Him on judgment day. And yet He died for people like you and me, and He even gives us the opportunity to be a part of His glorious Kingdom, even though we persecute. May God give you the same treatment He gave me, the same that showed His power, glory and saving grace that paved the way.

Wayne Watson was the first to record the song. Kramp went on to write another song entitled "The Runner's Song" however no one would ever record the song. In the 80's Kramp wrote 2 books on discipleship entitled "Out of Their Face and Into Their Shoes," and "Getting Ahead by Staying Behind: How to Be a Better Follower of Jesus." Later became Vice President of LifeWay in Nashville and now is eh Co-Founder and Partner at The Riverstone Group

The song was written by John Kramp while he was attending Baylor University back in the mid 70's.

That song reminds me of my life as I was that violin. I am now saved thanks to The Saviour. I was battered.

He was giving a concert at my church in MS the night I was baptized as a little girl. As I came out wet hair and all, he had me sit by him as he played this song. He used me as an example of a Christian's worth once "touched by the Master's hand". It has been such a special song to me for all these many yrs. he truly touched my heart and made my baptism a very special moment in my life.

THey started to cut the Alblum and before it was finished with all tracks laid ,the Lead singer past away and there was an audition to pick some one to do the lead. The lead singer picked was a well know singer in Toledo Ohio area by Name of Bob Wurst, Know in the area as the KING,man with Velvet voice

This version of Wayne's is the best one of all. I just love the music with the words. It is so much more meaningful with Wayne's version of song.

@kodabear1996 Lucifer dwells within you, and will remain with you until the end of time itself.

@OrthodoxDarwinist And yet, even if you were the ONLY person on this earth He would still die for you knowing you reject Him...can you even comprehend that kind of love? Have any of your family or friends made the choice to be beaten and killed to take the punishment for something you did? Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. @Elaine32909, Johnny Paycheck's song is called "The Old Violin", & is nothing like this song. In that one, he compares himself to an old violin about to be put up for the last time. It came out around the time he went to prison--might have been about how he felt at the time, what with being locked up & all. Don't really know, just a guess.

Good version, but liked the one by Wayne that came out in the 80's. Saw him perform it in Dallas area. Prestonwood Baptist? Don't know if I've heard Johnny Paycheck's version.
