This was also considered to be "ethnic" music: a curiosity or novelty act to most of the world. San Fran attendees wore street-clothes; most of their other concert's attendees (outside of their home) wore suits and ties to listen to their "native sound." Interesting fact: The Voting Rights Act (allowing all minorities to vote in the US) passed one year before the first Star Trek episode. THERE IS A LOT OF SHIT THAT WILL MAKE NO SENSE TO YOU IN THE NEXT FEW DECADES.

At least they made some noise. When this was recorded, cheering and whistling at the end of a song was considered borderline-rude if you weren't watching a pop band (you clapped politely, dancing was considered "awkward" for a concert, but you could dance at a "dance party" if the band wasn't the main focus). Yes: no dancing=wtf?, but old people are old and can still be awesome, and some shit won't make sense to you either in 32 years.
